    Princeton pen not smooth

the transmission is screwed into the front of the pen, but the transmission will often unscrew rather than advance the ink. This makes the pen unreliable and not good enough for sale.

    Princeton Pen

Yes, I had the very hard twist to advance the pen tip as well. I bought six of these, so I want them to work. I took 1 drop from the end of the plastic WD40 tube, and rubbed it onto the outside of part B after I had screwed off the top from the assembled pen. Twist action silky, and refill replacement is now easy. I am fairly new to pen turning as well ( I've made 41 pens at this point ). I found assembly to be the most difficult compared to other kits I've worked with. There are 4 presses instead of 2 or 3, and pressing part B was a pain. I ended up having to round the corner (by light sanding) to be pressed in order for it to go in straight. The first 4 attempts it wanted to go sideways, and I new the brass would just buckle if I forced it. Perhaps a pen press would have been better, I'm just using my lathe. I love the design. The roller clip is seen on expensive name brand pens, and the finish is great. The parts are weighty and made of metal. The pen feels like quality.

    Stiff/Gritty Twist Action

I really like the look and feel of this pen. I've probably made 10 of them in the past year and the last 4 I've gotten have all had really terrible twist action. They twist clean when the mechanism is outside the pen, but once reinserted inside it takes a lot of force to twist and feels gritty as it turns. The design is one of my favorites, but this issue is keeping me from buying more.

    Clip problems.

I am still relatively new to turning but, I have turned a few pens. I've found that I typically need the on-line instructions for kit assembly. I like the weight of the kit and, it's a good looking piece. I had trouble with the clip (Part "G") installation onto the Transmission Coupler (Part "H"). I did assembly the transmission as indicated however, the clip would not press over the small ridge of the coupler. I tried pressing it by itself using a socket. In the end I had to trim the inside diameter of the clip using sandpaper on a Dremel Tool. I had to do this on both kits. All turned out well in the end. I like the pen!

    A Keeper !!

These pens are so comfortable in your hand they are an instant hit with all that have seen and held them. Very easy to turn and assemble. The wheel in the clip adds a nice touch. To be honest, I didn't know about it until my daughter pointed it out to me. She had accidentally found it while in a business meeting. This kit has become as popular as the bullet pen kits that are an automatic hit with most who see them. I would definitely recommend these to anyone who is in the pen turning hobby. I only wish they had the quantity price break as they do with so many other kits. All in all, a great item!
