Aclever tool
I recently started making wooden spoons and carving the bowls was a challenge for me. This tool is cleverly designed to make it easy.

Somewhat dissapointed
For the price I thought I would receive a better quality tool. The steel may be a bit softer than it should because it dulls easily. It came with tooling marks running parallel to the cutting edge which made the edge roll at the furrows and break away even while sharpening. I refinished it and it works fine now, but it should have come finished for the price. Bottom line is I would recommend this to a friend providing they don't mind doing the finishing work on it.

As usual, a superior product
As with all things from Swiss-made, it is a great tool. Scorps are not so easy to find and this is a great one. While I have used it mostly for making spoons and some other carving needs, I suspect it is limited to smaller projects --but definitely excels at them. The only complaint I have is that is a bit tricky to sharpen but that is not a drawback of the tool. You can find cheaper ones probably but this one is well worth the money. All in all, I highly recommend it.

Just what I was looking for
It's a great carving tool for small or large projects.

Works well nicely made
Having used carving tools first is a big help. Needed time to adjust the handling of the scorp to make proper "cuts". Also had to make "holders" for the spoons that I was carving. Set of large decorative "salad spoons and forks". Tool is pricey..but then all good wood working tools are not cheap.

Great scorp but..
Waited nearly 3 months for this to come. Pheil makes great tools and I was shocked to see a very dull edge. It's like they were rushing to get the order out and just bypassed it. Once I put a edge on, she works like a charm.

does what it's supposed to do
I needed something to dig out a hollow in a piece of birds eye maple (really hard wood with lots of tiny knots) and, while it is slow going, this tool does exactly what it is supposed to do. I'm very happy with it.
