Very good purchase experience
I needed a relief carving chisel that could remove a lot of wood in a deep channel quickly. The pfeil products are top of the line-strong, sturdy, extremely sharp and retain a sharp edge very well. I am very pleased with it, and had a good experience ordering from Woodcraft. The chisel was in stick (always a good thing) and arrived sooner than I expected it. This brand is expensive and I am glad to see Woodcraft carry durable, quality products such as this (and not restrict offerings to lesser expensive/quality products.) Tools make the job easier or harder, and top of the line chisels to a wood carver are well worth the money.

The best
Pfeill Swiss made carving gouges are better, faster and cleaner than power carving tools. I carve mostly bass with them, and don't have to do serious sharpening very often. Pfeill offers many gouge shapes, enabling almost any kind of cut. Using them is a pleasure unto itself.

The Best
I started with less expensive tools until I knew more about what I needed and how I wanted to carve. Pfeil is the best and I can feel the difference when I carve. These are quality built tools that can be used for heavy mallet work or by hand. I will replace my most used gouges with Pfeil. I carve realistic figures, caricatures, Santas, and canes and I have learned to prize certain tools. This is an excellent size for a lot of my carvings. These are worth spending your money on!
