The Osborne miter guide sliding stop flips up out of the way when not in use. Fence has abrasive surface to absolutely prevent movement during the cut. No clamp needed. Heavy-duty steel T-slot washer (removable). Fence extension carries the flip stop and adds support up to 42" from the blade. Index graduations are clean, crisp and easy to read. The scale is large enough to set half or quarters of a degree with confidence. A simple locking calibration mechanism is provided if you need to make adjustments. Patented extension arm assembly makes it possible to quickly and easily find any angle and lock it securely in place. Precision detent plunger auto-locates common angles. The guide bar actually expands in 3 places to provide the ”perfect fit” for most saws with standard 3/4" x 3/8" miter slot. The fence can be adjusted from side to side allowing tight clearance at the blade. Quickly reverse the guide for left or right hand use by removing the fence, reversing the extension arm and reconnecting the fence. So simple... So stable! The greatest innovation in miter guide design in over 100 years! DON’T WASTE TIME WITH A PROTRACTOR GUIDE ANYMORE! The patented triangular design makes this guide more rigid than any other guide. Such a simple design. So easy to set precise angles.

      Not Impressed

The presets are all off, except for 0. It rocks inside the miter slot; a known issue. The cheap glide tape wears very fast. Flip stop does not rest against the heavy grit sandpaper fence covering, allowing already mitered pieces to slip under it. There is a lot of slop in the "eccentric nut" that causes the unit to bind up if you pull back from a cut. I was not impressed with the product and hope I can return it.

      Good with One Issue

Very nice miter gauge with one exception. The flip stop doesn't lay flush against the fence when it's in the down position. This isn't an issue with square stock, however, when you're trying to make repetitive miter cuts, which is one of the reasons I bought it, the mitered end of the stock slides right under the stop. So I wound up clamping a piece of wood to the foot to catch the end piece. Very disappointed in that aspect.I also noticed that the flip stop that I received with the gauge isn't what's pictured in the ad, directions or box. That one has a large foot on the end which may have eliminated this issue

      Not Impressed 12/18/2012

I'm not here really to write a review but to comment on Not Impressed 12/18/2012 review. I wonder where he came from and what he tried to do with the Osborne Miter Gauge. I have had mine for 10+ years and have used it so many times for so many different types of projects that I can't count them. I am a professional furniture builder,(as a hobby)and build furniture that people can't believe was built by someone other a furniture factory. This tool is dead on accurate and reliable and will take a lot of abuse. No more needs to be said!!!!

This thing is not even close to being accurate out of the box, it's way off with huge gaps in miters. The main reason I went with this particular one is reading how accurate it was out of the box. It is way off! The scale on the arm is not accurate so get ready to "fiddle" with it (cutting multiple pieces checking the fit) trying to figure out where it needs to be set to get a great 45 for framing, doors, etc. I suppose it could be "dialed in" if you want to take the time required to get it there but any and all of them will work if you want to take the time to get them set up. I decided to order this one because it was supposed to be so great and ready to go, with very little time required to set up so it is accurate, very disappointing. I was not even the slightest bit impressed. I have a shop made sled for 45 degree miters that took less time to build than this will take to adjust and set up. I was hoping to use this for quick cutting of any angle other than 45, but being off like it is means I just fell for another cheap product (with a not so cheap price tag) praised to be the answer to everything. It will hold papers from blwoing around though if you have a fan running in your shop.

Better quality than my general table saw

The track in my general brand table saw is not uniform enough to get the full use from the fence , I might have to buy a new saw .LOL The fence is very accurate and easy too use . I have used it to make two jewelry boxes with lids ,it makes accurate and square cuts . My only complaint is that I will still need to use my old one when I need to have a backup board behind my stock , you could bore holes to attach one but I hate to do that to such a nice product but still might do it . I will also look into fence clamps. Highly recommend .

      Dead on

I went with another brand first but after getting it setup found it no better then the stock miter guage. Right out of the box was dead on accurate. First major project was to cut some small panels for a sewing cabinet for the wife which produced excellent results.

Replaces the standard mitre gauge. Like the extra length for support.

Makes Quick Work of Wide Material

Forgot I had one of these! After struggling (yet again) with my Incra miter gauge, I got my Osborne down off the shelf. Wow, am I glad I have one of these! Had a 15"-wide panel to cut, and the Incra just wasn't getting it done: Too much flex, even after I adjusted the slot bushings. But after I dialed in the Osborne to square (it's 90-degree stop is just ever-so-slightly off), it was smooth sailing from there. What took me so long to do with the Incra just took mere minutes with the Osborne. My first cut was dead-on square. I'll stick with the Incra for tenoning and other short work due to it's built-in incremental stops, but will go with the Osborne for wider work. The Osborne's thinner profile made it easy to bring it back to my table's leading edge, allowing my 15" panel to just squeeze in ahead of the blade. Couldn't do that with the Incra. Have wider stuff to miter? BUY THIS TOOL!!!

      Terrific tool

Better by far then an electric miter box. We have to constantly re adjust the miter box and for accurate cuts we used to use our hand miter. Now it's available on the table saw and my arm does not get worn out hand sawing large pieces.

I do not have any examples

The tool has a large surface to control movement of the wood. My old original equipment mitre gauge was always a struggle to keep wood square to the saw blade when making cuts.

      Rock solid miter gauge!

this miter gauge is fantastic... rock solid with ease in making accurate repeatable cuts. my only problem is that the adjustments on the miter bar still did not allow for a tight fit in my miter track on my bosch tablesaw. i added tape spacers to make the tight fit. definitely workable, but it would be nice if it would adjust out a bit more. otherwise, i'd highly recommend this product!!

      accurate and easy to use

I already owned a miter gauge for my table saw,but I tend to use the Osborne because it is easy to adjust and produces accurate cuts every time. The only down side is that it does not come with both left and right stick on tape measures.

      Inexpensively The Best

If you are into building furniture or any other type of woodworking activity where consistent, accurate cuts are required, do yourself a favor: BUY THIS PRODUCT. The triangular support arm assures a consistent and reliable cut. The construction is of cast/extruded Aluminum for added strength. The design is so simple and reliable I am still astounded that no other miter gauge I've seen has this design. Forget the pricey, multi-colored protractor-type of miter gauges and put your money down on this product. The first time you make a 90 degree cut and slap an engineer's square up against the cut, you will see what I mean.

I wish I bought this sooner.

I have always struggled on the table saw to get true miters at any angle . The Osborn miter gauge after it was calibrated has been dead on every time. It was a little off right out of the box, but the adjustment method in the assembly instructions was quick and easy. Only about 5 minutes and I was done with the adjustment and the retesting.

      Great Tool !!

Very accurate right out of the box, would have bought it sooner if I had known how good it was. One thing that has to be improved on is the tape measure placement, it is just about useless.

      There is a god.

In the past 3-4 years, I bought over 50 tools while setting up a shop in my basement: table saw, drill press, band saw, jointer, planer, dozens of pricey hand tools, multiple power tools, accessories, etc.In retrospect, the worst tool I ever bought was a tenon jig from Delta. I am still in therapy for this.As for the best tool, it's definitely this miter gauge. Perfection is described as the point where nothing can be removed or added to an object without negatively affecting it's purpose. This is it. After so many frustrating episodes, like a mortiser that breaks in half, the trunnion of my table saw failing, the blade of my bandsaw that just won't freakinn stay centered, [$] hand planes that wont hold the blade, expensive chisels with very pretty wood handles that rust faster than my old Honda, mortiser with a stock rail that won't move anymore, and this god forsaken tenon jig that just would not get squared, with it's dozens of knobs and moving parts, that give you so many angle choices for the occasional angled cut ( less than 2%) but can't handle the simplest of them all, the dead square 90 degrees, ohhh did I tried, my friends, did I try...And then came this miter gauge straight from the gods themselves. I open the pack, lay out the pieces, and surprise, it's all there. I read the instructions, and not only are they concise and clear, but they even afford the luxury of common sense that address the reader as a person, not a P.O. box in New Jersey. As I put this thing together, I am thinking: there has got to be a mistake, this makes so much sense, this is such a simple and efficient design (my favorite is the hex screw for the miter slide adjustment), it's impossible!! I micro-adjust the angle to a perfect 90 degree and, as I move the fence with the precision of a swiss watchmaker, I am overwhelmed with emotion. I secure the assembly. Then I reach for a 7 inches plank, position it on my table saw, switch on the blade, and I push, for better or for worse. And it happen, as god is my witness, I produced two corners with such perfect square angle that I almost called Stockholm to let them know. And I think I cried a little bit, too.Amen.p.s.: All kidding aside, buy this today. Also, try the Dow teflon lube (the blue can) to lubricate the miter slide on your table saw. It sets dry so it wont collect dust, and it last quite a bit. Thats what I use on my motorcycle chain too.

      Accurate Miters

Although a little pricy, it really makes accurate miters. I use it mostly for picture frames and the movable stop aids in getting the legs exactly right, even with angles already cut on one end.

      osborne table saw miter gauge

i own an older model craftsman 10 inch table. i had to remove all the adjustment screws to get it to go in the miter groove. even than it is almost to tight to be able to slide. i am going to try to find a good lubricsnt to see if it will slide easier. if this doesn't help i will contact you again for further advice.

      Love it!

Accuracy is dead-on, even with pieces that are deep enough that they hang over the front of the table when you start the cut. The grip-tape on the face keeps the workpiece from being pulled into the blade during the cut. I have a couple of miter gauges and wish I would have bought this one a few years ago when I first noticed it, it would have saved me some grief.

      Excellent Product

This miter gauge was very easy to set up. I used the "detent pin" to set the gauge at 90 degrees & checked the first cut with a square & it was right on, no adjustment necessary. checked again at 45 degrees & still right on. Well made. The gripping material that was included made it easy to hold the wood to the miter gauge, even at 45 degrees. I didn't have to use a "death grip" on the wood. I put the material on both sides of the adjustable extension to keep the wood flush with the gauge when extended on either the left or right side of the blade.

      Nice addition to a tablesaw.

I was very impressed with this mitre guage straight out of the box. Only had to adjust the screw on the miter slot for a good fit and it was ready for use. It has a nice solid feel and on checking with a digital angle protractor, I couldn't fault it. The triangle concept really makes it robust. Haven't tried any other guages but this one works very well.
