Not really "precise", doesn't lock tightly

The distance between marking points is visibly off by a wee bit (I want to say about 1/32 at the outer-most marking point), which is off-putting, but not necessarily an issue, as a smart woodworker knows other ways to get really precise when that's needed and would not depend on a measuring device. To their credit, the manufacturer actually says not to depend on it for precision like that needed for dovetail or box joints - but only in the instructions, after you've opened it, not on the packaging. What really gets to me is that I feel that I have to handle this thing with great care because the tightening (locking?) knobs really don't do anything - you can crank on them with great force and the resistance to movement (changing your setting inadvertently) is still only as great as the resistance that the built-in friction in the hinge points provides - not much. I hope I'll be able to return this - it's not broken, just defective by design.

Not perfect but it does work

The tool reduces the need to measure out evenly spaced points on your work and it is fast and easy to use. As a precaution I still measure the points when extreme accuracy is needed as the point to point tool is not dead on. If you want a quick way to get close to even spacing on your project this tool does work.

    Time Saver

I used it to hang up pegs for my coffee mugs in the kitchen - this little tool made it so much easier and evenly spaced! would highly recommend it for many uses!
