The Merlin2® is the second generation Miniature Long Neck Angle Grinder Set from King Arthur’s Tools, which replaces the original Merlin. Merlin2 has been completely redesigned, inside and out, with spiral bevel gears, a new upgraded motor, RoHS compliant electronics, a larger fan, additional vents, one-piece cast safety guard, a textured finish and improved design. Carve, cut, shape and sand with one tool! Now carvers who are working on a smaller scale can enjoy the rapid, yet controlled stock removal that large-scale carvers have enjoyed for years with Lancelot woodcarving discs. The special eight-tooth chain disc, which is mounted between two stainless steel plates, easily cuts the hardest woods, regardless of grain or knots. Only 2" in diameter, the disc reaches into tight areas, which previously had to be carved and smoothed by hand. You can rough-out with the chain disc and then smooth and finish shaping with the tungsten carbide disc and flap disc sanders.

Disappointing
Disappointing. I have found this tool to be inadequate for my use. When carving bowls out of hard woods I have found that it heats up relatively quickly- 20 minutes is its limit- and so interrupts my work flow waiting for it to cool while blowing out the dust that accumulates inside. I really wanted to like this machine as it promises much. I sent mine back to the manufacturer after it burned out after the first use. They graciously repaired it for free but advised me of the 20 minute limitation (and. I had to pay for the shipping to repair). I would love to learn that they are re-engineering the design to minimize overheating but I have no indication of that. Sadly, not recommended.
