Iwasaki files cut with surprising speed and yet leave a smooth surface due to the manner in which the teeth are milled and chemically etched. Combine that with the diagonal groove pattern, the result is a file that will cut like a plane, but with very little resistance and with the built in chip-breakers to help prevent clogging. All of the files are safe edged, allowing you to use them to adjust a mortise and tenon joints like a float or to fine tune the body of a wood plane without digging into the adjacent surfaces. Suitable for all types woods or plastics, their aggressive action provides short detail strokes without compromising speed. Whether you are working on a carving, or turning a pen with the choice of a medium, fine and extra fine tooth configuration Iwasaki Carving Files offer the right file for your task at hand.

From the first time woodworkers tried sandpaper-on-glass sharpening, they’ve wrestled with the fact that most abrasives can’t stand up long against steel. The Work Sharp’s plate and guide design accelerates the effect. The consistent touch point quickly wears away a ring of abrasive, especially when using the coarsest grits. Worn paper encourages the user to press harder, which doesn’t make sharpening any faster and overtaxes the machine.

    The handle maker's friend

Works really well, Takes a little getting used to how it cuts. A good compliment to a decent rasp. Wish I had found these sooner

Learning Curve is shaped with an Iwasaki

These work great. Its like having a dozens of tiny little card scrapers all working together. Really good for end grain shaping

    Very good tool.

Use this file to shape where you can't use spokeshaves, draw knives, etc. The cuts actually cut the wood more than abrading it. Smooth. Not much about this that is not great.

    A great tool

These files really need a category all their own. It's like having hundreds of tiny plane blades bonded to a file body. I have the fine and the medium. The fine will shave hair off my arm! I've never seen a "file" do that. They remove wood quickly and cleanly with no tearing, more like a plane than a file. They are especially good in areas where you are fighting the grain with a single blade tool.

    Excellent tool

Needed a couple of files for small(ish) work. These are really sharp, precise, don't clog up and are comfortable in the hand. Very pleased.

    Usefull tool

Good for tight spots where lots of material needs removal. Cuts rapidly and does not tear wood excessively.
