Beware
This vice was a gift and too large for My purposes. Since it shipped from the manufacturer I was hit with a 30% restocking fee(?) and payment for return shipping. My advice do not by anything thru woodcraft that ships from manufacturer. Customer device was no help

good vice
Twenty vices were ordered by 10 individuals in a "Build a Workbench" class at a community college. Shipping was very timely. The 1/8" thick metal piece that ties the lead screw to the two rods on underneath side was bent on several vices and had to be hammered flat.

Works great for me but in an unusual way
I do not use the vise in its intended fashion. I use it upside down. Plus, I move it around, it is not secured to a bench. I use it to bend copper and steel around wood. It works like a charm! I wish I'd thought of this years ago. It makes what I do easy and cuts my time and labor in half, if not more. The only negative is that, in my application, the quick release limits, to a small degree, the opening size.

Worth having
Darn thing works great, no problems with the quick release, has toed clamping, opens and closes easily and has a tremendous amount of holding power without cranking down hard on the vise handle. It was covered with grease when I bought it but knowing it had to get to the U.S. by boat, I'm glad it was. I bought it in June 2011 but didn't get it attached to my chump plywood bench until December. I'll probably replace the metal dog with wood or remove it completely. I really don't believe you'll be disapointed with this vise, I'm not.
