In the 1600’s and 1700’s along the coastal plains in the South, colonists found pristine stands of Cypress whose superior qualities led them to harvest these timbers. Many of the logs were transported down the rivers to mills for sawing and about 5% of the them sank. Today, our partners scuba dive for these logs and bring up tight old
growth trees that were cut down over 100 yrs. ago and were 400 to 1,200 yrs. old when cut. Colors from these “sinker” logs range from cinnamon to honey to olive green. The density of growth rings show that it sometimes took up to 30 yrs. for these trees to grow one inch! Buy Colonial Cypress to create your next project and reclaim a piece of history from these lost treasures!

    The boards are kiln dried
    S2S
Much denser than your typical newly cut Cypress
Easy to work, glue, and finish
Machines well, excellent for boxes, small furniture and outdoor projects

Due to the nature of wood movement, shrinkage and expansion are possible. Please measure each piece carefully before starting any project.

Wood is a product of nature, and as such, no two pieces are alike to start with, while the same wood growing in different locales can vary greatly even though it is the exact same species.
