The Woodcraft Warrior ALS Cutting Board Project

The Woodcraft Warrior Project is a charity mission to raise money for the Central and Southern Ohio Chapter of the ALS Association to help fight Lou Gehrig’s Disease.  Students from Warren High School in Vincent, Ohio have teamed up with Woodcraft to make cutting boards with a laser engraved Warren mascot logo, donating 100% of the profits to the charity.

The cutting boards are beautifully made with cherry, maple and purpleheart woods.  The contrasting wood colors are eye-catching, and the mineral oil finish makes the color and grain of the wood really pop.  The precision of the engraving makes the board even more impressive.

Not only will you show your school spirit and donate to a good cause, you’re helping high school students learn the art of woodworking.  This project brought a group of high school students together with little woodworking experience, and has really motivated them to learn more!  The skills they learned while designing, routing and sanding can compete with any professional!

Just in time for the Holidays, add your favorite fancy cheese, and a bamboo knife from JapanWoodworker.com , wrap in cellophane, tie it up with a bow and you have a unique, handmade gift with a feel-good donation to back it!

Each cutting board measures 3/4″ thick x 5″ wide x 7″ long.

Three styles are being offered:

-Cutting Board with a Large Mascot is $25.
-Cutting Board with a Small Mascot is $20
-Cutting Board with No Mascot is $115

The finish is simply General Finishes Butcher Block Oil, a pure food grade mineral oil which exceeds FDA requirements for food contact.

The three Warren students responsible for making these boards are left to right, Ryan Potter, Noy Rogers, and Alex Miller.  Ryan Potter said,“My grandpa suffers from this terrible disease.  I am thrilled that our efforts will help not only him, but many others with ALS.”  Alex Miller stated, “I love that Woodcraft has given us such a great opportunity to do something fun for such a great cause.”  These boards were handcrafted from start to finish with the assistance of Woodcraft personnel.

Special thanks to George and Ben at Woodcraft for suggesting the project and teaching us how to make the boards.  Special thanks to Woodcraft and their Wood Supplier for giving us the opportunity to use the equipment and access to the materials and engraving we used.
