Now here is a very cool tool called The GRR-Ripper, with a lot of safety factors considered into it’s engineering. This brilliant idea from Micro Jig does away with blade contact problems and kickback, protecting the woodworker from possible injury, while allowing for different types of cuts that normally would not be able to be done safely without this device. It is versatile, as it can be used on a table saw, router, band saw, and other machines. No woodworker should be without this tool!
Inventor of the Micro Jig Grr-Ripper is Henry Wang, and his story starts in 1998:
Life began for Micro Jig in a workshop in Orlando, Florida. It was here, where the founder Henry Wang, a woodworking hobbyist and enthusiast, was working on an intricate cutting board project requiring the ripping of many thin strips. During this project, he grew tired and irritated with the wasted material resulting from the inefficient manner of traditional woodworking techniques. It was out of this frustration where he developed the revolutionary concept behind the GRR-Ripper System. Although he held no formal education or training in engineering, he spent countless hours refining his design and meticulously crafting the blueprint for innovation. Little did he know that the fruits of his labor would bare one of the greatest woodworking evolutions in decades. With his 25 years of woodworking experience, he challenged the dated and dangerous practices embedded in the subconscious of the woodworker. Wang stated, “The GRR-Ripper would greatly shorten the learning curve for new and seasoned woodworkers for achieving safer and more precise cuts in the woodshop—saving craftsman years of trial and error and potentially harmful injury.” Over the next few years, Wang would labor tirelessly to turn his concept into reality and design what would be known to the world as the GRR-Ripper 3D Pushblock System. In 2001, Micro Jig was incorporated and began purveying a precision pusher system that was saving fingers and creating a tsunami within the woodworking community. Since then, Micro Jig has created a host of innovative woodworking tools and apparatus serving crafters from California to Italy to Australia. As we continue to follow his vision, Micro Jig continues to seek innovation at every process and develop groundbreaking advancements in the woodworking industry. As 2011 hallmarks Micro Jig’s 10th year of business, this family owned business serves as a testament to ingenuity, perseverance, and the American Dream.
