Good vise with some tweaking.
I used this for tail vise on Woodcraft's Lynch Classic Workbench, as instructed by Matthew Teague. It works well, but has taken some adjustments, as the large side plate had a 1/8" variation in width from front to back, as well as rough edges, both requiring some grinding with my edge sander. Constructing the wooden structure covering the worm screw was tedious, but doable. I now have a smooth functioning tail vise.

Wood River Tail Vise
I am pleased to have used this vise. It performs well and was very reasonably priced. Directions were vague. Takes a bit to figure out but in the end well worth it.

SMALL INSTRUCTIONS-SCALE? WE DON'T NEED NO SCALE
Install Instructions are just suggestions. There are 2 drawings, one is an exploded view. The other is an end view. Unfortunately no one bothered with scale, and I had to measure and convert to a correct dimentionable scale. Other than the 2 drawings, the install design is your problem. These vise hardware only designs are for ADVANCED WOODWORKERS ONLY. I would recommend this to PRO USERS ONLY.

A quality product for the price
Comparing to the other reviews, I found that the fit of the slides had been fixed as well as the alignment of the screwholes. I agree with George, as it's an excellent size for my workbench also, which is 74 x 30. A cut sheet in the product description would be helpful, as well as a tentative drawing of the block structures to turn it into a completed tail/end vise in the shipped literature. However, we're woodworkers and should be able to figure that out.

Pretty good value
A little too much play in the slots that the plate slides along. It's not major, but could be refined. It leads to a minor bit of shiftiness in use. Could definitely use a more detailed cut sheet online and in the package to plan accordingly, plus to buy the right screws to accompany kit.

Serves its purpose
I'm building a heavy workbench from scratch and wanted to have a solid tail vise. This slide is the shorter of the 2 that I see offered by Woodcraft, and it's the perfect size for my workbench It is, of course, made in China, but that is to be expected. My only complain is the the hole positions in the top and bottom plates are misaligned, and the manufacturer attempted to get around that flaw by forcing one of the bolts to conform, resulting in a bent bolt (unfortunately, the bend happens to be in the threaded part of the bolt). Luckily this did not hurt the threads in the top plate. To make the plates align perfectly, I had to grind one of the holes (the unthreaded hole) wider by around 4mm. It works, but if you're not prepared to do this, I would suggest you look elsewhere. The bolts are metric, with fine thread, so replacements are not that easy to find in a local hardware store.

Easy to install - works great
I use it exclusively to fix boards on my bench for hand planing. Example dimensions on the product sheet would be nice
