With this simple, utilitarian, yet compact WoodRiver® Camp Axe Kit in your backpack, camp or vehicle, you will always be prepared for an unexpected emergency or disaster. At only a little over 1 lb., it is light enough to carry on an extended adventure trip, yet durable enough to handle outdoor chores. Constructed from 5.2 mm thick, 3Cr13 stainless steel (HRC51-53), it is easy to sharpen but will hold an edge extremely well. Create a handle from a material of your choice.

    Fun project with quality steel

    I've made a lot of knife handles and this one was one of the most fun given the broad size available. From mine, I used a piece of ash burl.

    Great product

    This is a nice project for outdoorsy types and for gifts. Easy to shape the scales—as with blades like this that do not come with a bolster, you will want to shape the top edge before gluing on the scale. Best to attach the 2 sides with 2-sided tape and do them together. Otherwise it is about as easy as they come. Works well with 1/4” scale in a dark wood like bocote. It is not super sharp on delivery, but easy enough to sharpen to your preference.

    Nice camp axe

    As described. You have to provide your own handle. LOL My son has been out of the nest for some time now and enjoys camping and rock climbing with friends. So I bought 2 kits and turned this into a great father son project. We got to do some woodworking together and we have a nice camping tool that will always bring back fond memories. They are so nice I think I'll make a couple more for some of my camping friends.

    Not a kit

    This is a horrible product. Even though all photos show a handle attached to the rivets, there is no handle provided. This really is a useless product that has been advertised differently then what is provided.
