    Good Product for Bird Carving

Pros:Carving for years-first time to try tupelo. It is lighter than the basswood I have and seems to take detail better. Works well with a sharp knife or power tool, sands nicely. I have been using every scrap on a carving and habitat currently in progress. Cons:I don't think it will work as well for thin inserts. The block I got had a large angled off bark area on one end that of course can't be used.(That may be how it is when buying this wood)
