These HIGHPOINT® Steel Slotted Drive Inserts are for ready-to-assemble furniture, drawer pulls and wherever you need an easy-to-install threaded insert. Large teeth give increased holding strength in particleboard and end-grain applications.
Pilot-hole measurements may vary due to the nature and grain of wood. We recommend a trial installation on a piece of scrap.

    inaccurate pilot hole instructions

    Suggested pilot holes - not even close. I used 3/8 for hard wood (oak), and 11/32 for soft (plywood). Make sure you use a flat head screwdriver that's at least 1/2 inch wide or you mangle the threads at that end. I used a bolt through other end to realign threads. As the package does state - test on scrap piece of same wood first.
