The Thread Detective is a precise and easy-to-use thread identifier for both nuts and bolts, consisting of gliding gauges conveniently assembled onto a wire lanyard. It is especially well suited for distinguishing between similar inch and metric threads. Our unique Thread Identifiers (aka thread checkers) are available in Metric, English Standard, and a combo of Metric and English Standard. Our Thread Detectives are equipped with a 3-3/8 (85 mm) ruler for measuring stud lengths. For your convenience we provide extra-long wire rope for those hard to reach places, as well as loops on each end for convenient hanging.

Inch Thread Identifiers contain nut and bolt sizes of 6-32, 8-32, 10-24, 10-32, 1/4-20, 1/4-28, 5/16-18, 5/16-24, 3/8-16, 3/8-24, 7/16-14, 7/16-20, 1/2-13, and 1/2-20.

Metric Thread Identifiers contain nut and bolt sizes of M4x0.7, M5x0.8, M6x1.0, M8x1.0, M8x1.25, M10x1.0, M10x1.25, M10x1.50, M12x1.25, M12x1.5, and M12x1.75.

The Combo Thread Identifier Set unites all thread sizes from both the Metric and Inch versions.

What’s cool about this product is having the thread identifiers on a handy strong, yet flexible single lanyard for each Metric and Inch sizes. Hang it on your peg board hook, drawer handle, cabinet handle, or tack it with a nail on a wood board anywhere in your shop. Stop the guess work when matching up nut and bolt sizes.  Available in separate Inch (Woodcraft item #158931) and Metric (Woodcraft item #158932) versions or together in one Set (Woodcraft item #158933).  Click on the photo for additional information.
