Are you joining layers of leather but need to thin the leather so it is not bulky? You can use a skiving knife to thin leather by working with the flesh side up, using a glass or granite cutting surface to protect the knife and work surface. This allows you to join or overlap pieces together without a bulky seam. It is a dual-purpose tool, and works well for cutting thicker leather. Blade is 2-3/4” with a 4” handle, stainless steel, polished to a mirror like finish. Mirror finish helps the blade glide thru thick leather like saddle skirting. The unique engraving, solid brass bolster and hardwood handle makes this a piece of art. The handle is contoured for an easy, secure grip so you can work faster with complete control.
