The PWBS-14CS has an extra-large, two-piece cast iron table. It consists of a 15 x 15" tilting section and a fixed 15" x 5" extension for a total working surface area of 15" x 20". The balanced, 9-spoke cast iron wheels ensure smooth operation. At the same time, the micro-adjustable dual-bearing blade guide system guarantees precise blade control above and below the table. Carter's quick tension release lever expedites blade changes, making your workflow more efficient. The rigid, one-piece welded stand requires no assembly, providing long-term stability and durability. Illuminate your work area with the built-in 60-watt halogen lamp, providing direct light on the blade and workpiece for enhanced cutting visibility. changing drive belt
The best way I have found to change the drive belt is to find an old sizer lift jack to use. Have the 4 motor bolts just a little less then finger tight so the motor will slide down and up. Place the jack under the motor on level floor and jack up motor to put belt on. Use a small level to make sure motor is level. Next, lower the motor to as tight as the belt will go with out changing to level. Spin the belt by hand and if the belt hold it's groves then tighten the bolts. Worked great on my saw doing all the work by myself. Machine is great, but instruction in manual on this will drive you nuts.

Powermatic 14"
I just finished setting up my new Powermatic 14" band saw. I also purchased the riser kit. I did not run into any real problems and the instructions were good. Adjusting the tension on the motor with the belt was a little tricky. I had to cut a block of wood to support the motor while I adjusted bolts. The only issue I have is the light does not work ( No it's not the bulb )I need to trouble shoot that one yet Overall it seems to be a very well built saw.

Nice bandsaw but ...
Nice bandsaw but break out your tap and die set to assemble. There is a lot of paint and debris in the threads of the pieces. You don't want to cross-thread or break a bolt or screw. Once you set up this saw properly, everything tracks true which makes for nice cuts.

Powermatic PWBS-14CS Bandsaw
PWBS-14CS Bandsaw owners will tell you that properly adjusted it is a great machine and I am no different. It takes some research and experimentation to get the saw tuned just right. It is worth it. Read Mark Duginske's Band Saw Handbook first before tuning the bandsaw. The biggest flaw I have found so far is the tensioning of the drive belt. What a joke!!! Other bandsaws make provisions for this but not this one. You can struggle with this for a long time before it is right. I finally made a jig to help me get the motor down far enough to tension the drive belt. Blade tensioning is easy compared to drive belt tensioning on this machine. I read alot of comments before I purchased this bandsaw about how bad assembly instructions were written, poor castings, saw not cutting right, missing parts, etc and I did not encounter any of it. My 4 star rating was influnced by the drive belt tensioning experience.

My first Big Boy Bandsaw
Great saw. My first "real" bandsaw and I'm impressed. The only issue I had was the lower trust bearing barely has enough clearance for my 3/4" resaw blade, but I'm pushing the limit of the saw so I really can't complain. Love it and look forward to creating dust for years to come!!!

Powermatic 14
I completed a lot of research prior to making my final purchase decision. I went with the PowerMatic due to its performance in history/quality. This being my first bandsaw, I found the assembly required was more than for one person. The overall design is very good. I did have problems in various adjustments mostly due to access and getting use to the machine. One alan wrench was missing from the tool set but, I had enough hand tools to take care of this issue. Getting tension set for the motor was a little difficult due to the small space through the back door, for access. After working with the trunnion mount and extension table, I finally got the saw squared up and both tables level. It takes a little getting familiar with this new saw, in order to get it setup to make straight cuts. My first experience in replacing the original 3/8" blade with a 1/2", took a little effort but, good experience. Use gloves to work with the adjustment of the new blade. Taking time to adjust the upper and lower bearing blade guides makes a big difference in cut performance. I even called and talked to a tech and he was very helpful. He gave me some helpful hints on adjustments. Now I'm ready to do some projects. I really like the quality of this saw and want to switch over to 220 volt. That seems to be more trouble because, of the small access space to the motor in order to switch the wires. Plus you need to either use a 220 volt bulb for the lamp or ground one leg of the lamp on the 120 volt side.

Powermatic 14" Great machine
I am a serious non-professional. I bought mine several months ago and it works great. Powerful, and accurate. The blade that comes with it has proven to be a good one. The blade tracks very well. Something you would expect from a good machine. I assembled this myself, I recommend you use two people as it is a heavy assembly. I would suggest you purchase the mobile base. I did and it is sturdy and makes movement easy. I don't usually move it, but due to my shop size I sometimes need to. I have the Riser block, but have not installed it yet, I can see it would work nicely if you are re-cutting boards etc.
