Tested agains the new Jet Cyclonic separator
I was not very interested in buying it because it is big and the paper drum is not what i had in mind... Bougth the Jet cyclonic separator with drum... The jet looked very nice but only catched less than half of chips... Went to Woocraft and got Onaida 4 inch.. huge difference....the latch and the drum truly suck... but i will replace them later...not cheap but the best in the market...Posted a test comparison review on youtu be

Buy the regular 5” Super DD
This thing is not what I expected from onieda, especially for the price. It’s nice that it is basically plug and play. Just attach the gasket and go. However, this thing produces a massive hit to your CFM. The difference between a direct hose, and this thing in between is huge. Molded parts don’t mate particularly well, and the 4” adapter fitting is stretched with screws that enter the airstream and disrupt airflow. It does separate out the chips and fine dust well, but I feel like the bigger 5” would produce a smaller hit to the cfm. Good chip separation becomes moot if you lose the ability to collect the bulk at the tool.

Way too small
This particular model comes with the 15 gallon fiber drum which seemed like a good idea as it was an all-in-one solution. I personally like fiber drums because I feel like they're the right mix of weight and strength so this looked like a good purchase. However, a 15 gallon drum is way too small for any amount of woodworking short of hand tools. I only ran a few boards through my planer and this thing was already full. Latches on fiber drums lock good but aren't made for removing all the time like you'll find yourself doing with this tiny one. It's also not very heavy so unless you anchor the drum & dust deputy to something, it will fall over constantly. I started looking around for a 55 gallon fiber drum and one of the things I noticed on the Oneida website was this kit is designed to work with this 15 gallon drum only, and they recommend the DIY or 5" model if you plan on doing your own. Bottom line, don't buy this package.

Extremely effective cyclone
I bought this to put in front of a 1-1/2 HP dust collector and almost no dust gets through to the dust collector bag. The dust collection bin fills up quickly when planing but I knew that would be the case. It's perfectly adequate for most other uses. The size fits nicely in my small shop which was the reason I went with this rather than a larger cyclone. I did order a plastic insert and bags from Oneida to make emptying the system quick and painless. I sprayed the fiber bin with several coats of spar urethane to seal it and protect it from moisture. There are two small points that I would subtract a half point for; the metal band that secures the cyclone to the bin can be a little fiddly, and the system could really use a window so you can see how full the bin is. Other than that, it's a great little system.

Works very well
I have a 14 inch bandsaw in an area separate from my main dust collection system and needed something simple to deal with the dust. This is hooked up between the saw and the 1 hp collector seems to be collecting most, if not all, of the dust. The band on the barrel has been a little bit hard to get on and off, but should improve with use. I do have the barrel up off the floor as I am not sure how water resistant it is. Nice simple setup, which should work well in similar situations.

Worth it!
It works beautifully. When it says it pics off 99% of sawdust it's true. I've been using it for 3 months now and still haven't emptied my dust collector. Definitely a good buy.
