      It comes without a handwheel?

The review from 2/25/10 says it doesn't match the picture. It still doesn't match the picture, but the email I got this week says they're "in the process of updating the image". This handwheel is far too small and rough for slowing a workpiece. Quality and mass went down, but the price didn't. My Jet mini has a better handwheel, and I didn't pay extra for it.

Not what's pictured but it works well

I purchased this along with the 1624-44 lathe. I like to be able to slow a piece down as well as be able to rotate it manually as I am working it. The unit that arrived did not look anything like the picture, it was stainless and bell shaped with a good size hole perpendicular to the axis for the operating bar to slide into. This has come in handy removing items from a woodworm. No instructions, but once I figured out it was reverse threaded everything worked out. The one thing I would have liked is a way to secure it to the spindle so that I can use it for threading things on to the lathe.

It looks nothing like this. However, it works and does the job.
