Details
Mixol Universal Tints are the most concentrated, highest quality tints on the market today. They are compatible with most water, solvent, lacquer and oil-based stains, coatings, shellacs, epoxies, waxes, varnishes, wood fillers, etc. “Ease of tinting or mixing” is often cited as the main attribute to Mixol, along with the “sophisticated” color palette. Mixol tints are highly resistant to heat or frost damage. They won’t dry out or thicken (because they are binder-free), so there is a very long shelf/shop life. The oxide-based colors are made from inorganic pigments which make them colorfast, fade-resistant and weatherproof. These oxide colors are ideal for exterior applications or where UV fading may occur. Cleanup is very easy with soap and water. Mixol tints are not flammable or hazardous.

Not impressed for the price.
The tints are good if you need to do minor alternations to paint colors, but not strong enough to add to white paint to color any significant amount. Tried to use the blue to tint 1/2 cup of white milk paint and barely got it to a light blue color after using the entire bottle. Definitely not worth over $50. Also all of the color names and instructions provided are in German, so not the most user friendly.

leaky bottles
When I opened the plastic case to look at the bottles of tinting color, more than half of them had leaked all over themselves and the other bottles. It was very messy and annoying and I wanted to just send them back. I kept them and used them for tinting lacquer, which was why I bought them, and it turned out o.k. in the end. They have to be mixed really well. I had little bits of the colors coming out of my sprayer that hadn't gotten mixed in,

Uses Are Limitless
I am still experimenting with everything that can use colour tinting from custom coloured wine stoppers, to decorating turned bowls.

What's that word....AWESOME!
I saw the Mixol and bought the black to do a witch and the numbers on an address sign. The color worked fantastic in gel stain. Later I purchased the entire kit of colors. I used different colors, in a gel stain, to color a 3D moose I had carved. My wife was looking to run to a store to buy a forest green paint for some furniture...we only had white enamel in the house. Using the Mixol kit I was able to make a color she just fell in love with. This stuff has worked with everything I've tried it with so far, and the coloring is great!

ahh finally the cure to my coloring woes
We manufacture pre-finished wood decking, we have been having a terrible time finding a dye to make just the right color and the Mixol dyes were the answer to the problem. It was a quick process to get just the right mix and is very repeatable if you can count drops as they come out of the dropper. The drop size is consistent and the dye is consistent. In our process we have had to mix the tote of sealer to keep the dye consistently mixed (proprietary sealer did not fall out with poly's). The sealer comes out a consistent color with no blotchiness. Cleanup is soap and water easy.

Dying wood to obtain the exact color and shade you want makes for a satisfying experience.

colors everything, even epoxies and glue
You no longer have to have different kinds of colors for different products; japan colors, universal tints, all replaced by one product
