Great sander TERRIBLE inflation mechanism
First the good: I really like the sanding action of this item. It works very well inside of a bowl. Using the drum slightly under pressure allows it to conform to the shape of the object being sanded with nice results. The downside is the inflation mechanism. The pump does not hold onto the shaft at all, so you really need three hands to inflate. Trying to let air out of either the dome or the drum is even worse. You unscrew until the rubber unseats at which point, the pieces blow apart across the shop. There is no way to controlably add or let out a little bit of air. There are inexpensive readily available valves which work well - a stem valve like what is used on a bicycle tire or a needle valve like what is used on a basketball would be vastly superior to what they have created here. Given that this kit was quite expensive, I expected more. Given how well the sanding action works when you do finally get it set up, this could have been a great sanding system. With the inflation system it has, it is a frustrating tool, which I'll probably end up not using too much or trying to modify it with a different valve.
Sanding has change for for me entirely with the Guinevere system. This kit has larger sanding barrels (and is great for previously impossible to reach places). It is not for general sanding, but for smaller details and interiors. Hours of hand sanding saved. It adds that finishing touch to details (and for me, the small piece work of intarsia, and gourds).
Works as advertised
I was able to easily get into curves and odd shaped areas
