Woodcraft invites the Parkersburg, WV area residents to a free Upcycling Event at the Habitat for Humanity ReStore on Saturday, June 21, at 10 a.m.  Mixed media artist Leslie Yoak from St. Marys will “upcycle” and repurpose ReStore items to improve their look and value.  What’s the difference between upcycle and repurpose?  Upcycling is taking something old or outdated and giving it a fresh modern new look.  Repurposing is giving new life to an item by changing it into something entirely useful than what is used to be.  For example, the item on the left below is an end table from the 80′s, upcycled with General Finishes products from Woodcraft, giving it a new flair with a distressed look to match the rooms decor.  Photo right shows an old bathroom light box fixture, repurposed or transformed into a rack for hanging anything from jewelry and belts to other creative items for remodeling any room.

      "Not a True Milk Paint"

I bought a pint of GF Lamp Black Milk Paint, which is a convenient product since it's pre-mixed. However, I found that it doesn't level-out or sand as nicely as the powdered products I've used and like very much. The GF website says that it is "not a true milk paint" but, really, it's not even close. Milk paint ingredients are; natural pigment, casein from milk and lime. The GF product ingredients are water, Acrylic Resin, Glycol Ethers and Tributoxyethyl Phosphate. Why not be honest and say it is acrylic paint with a look similar to that of milk paint?

      LOVE this paint!

I have used this paint for several different projects and absolutely love how it looks. The Lamp Black paint is a beautiful color that gives off a slight blue glow when sealed with a satin poly. Highly recommend this paint.

I am going to order more of this product

I am using the paint for painting furniture and other wood pieces. Love the "shade" of black, and it looks great on the pieces I have painted. Will be back to get more colors in the very near future. Your quick response to my order was very much appreciated.

      Great product

I used this paint as the main color to redo two old nightstands. I used about three coats for the coverage I wanted and then sanded the bottom colors through to distress. I was very pleased with the final product and will use this paint again. This was the first time I have used milk paint.
