When General Finishes first told us about this new water based urethane, to be honest, we were skeptical. However, after testing and using Enduro-Var all skepticism vanished as we realized this was not the typical water based top coat. First, Enduro-Varit uses a colored urethane resin which, like oil imparts a warm glow to wood that darkens or ages over time. Second, it’s an air oxidizing, rather than a simple evaporative, finish which means exposure to air facilitates the cure. This curing process produces an incredibly tough finish that is suitable for any interior application, including floors. Combine these two winning characteristics with the ease of water based application and we think you’ll agree that there is no better finish available. If you’ve been hesitant about using water based finishes, we challenge you to cast your skepticism aside and use Enduro-Var on your next project.

    • Self crosslinking polyurethane
    • Looks more like an oil varnish than a water coating
    • Ambers slightly
    • Very durable coating
    • High water resistance

It’s the time of year when the air turns crisp and the colors abound in nature to inspire ideas as the holiday spirit starts to come alive with creativity in woodshops everywhere.  When we think of Autumn, the aromatic flavors of fall fill the air with pumpkin pies, apple desserts, canning for the upcoming winter months, kids playing in leaf piles, bonfires and sawdust!  Fall festivals with homemade goods featuring crafts and hot apple cider begin to pop up in many communities.  Many types of woodworking projects can also be found, like these pumpkin creations by woodworker, turner and carver, Rex Kenyon.  We asked Rex to create two different style pumpkins, one for Halloween and one for Thanksgiving, and here is what he came up with.  You’ve got to take a serious close-up look at these pumpkins shown left to determine if they indeed are fruit or wood!  How did Rex make these come to life?  Let’s find out!

Before a tree becomes a beautiful and useful piece of furniture, turning, or carving, it starts as a living, breathing part of nature for the eyes to behold. As it develops in height, it also grows in diameter producing rings which give away it’s age like that of wrinkles on a human face.

      Awesome product!

Came across EnduroVar a few years ago and I'm very impressed with all aspects of this product. I've never been a fan of brushing out waterbased clearcloats because of the fast dry time....When brushing Endurovar, it levels and flow just like a long oil, and when dry & cured, also feels like a high end oil. This is my "go to" topcoat for my waterbased product!

      Smooth hard finish

Used it to finish a bench for the kitchen table. Provided a good hard finish that's held up to the abuse from our kids.

      Good Stuff !!

I contacted General Finish and ask which one of their water based coatings they make has the hardest finish. Hands down Enduro is it !! I've used it one one project so far and do not have any complainants !!
