    Poor quality control

The blade came with the tip chipped away and it was not fully black. I didn't return it because none of this will impede its functionality. I used a diamond hone to shape the tip. Knife is prone to chipping if used on any hard surfaces like clicking down on the butter dish. It can be further sharpened using 1000 grit wet sand paper on a flat granite block and finishing it with 2000 grit.

    Ceramic material is brittle

Bought two blanks to make as gifts - both broke before I could give them away. One broke off inside the handle while cutting off a slice of cobly cheese. The other broke when I had the glued up knife with the handle in a vice. My grown son accidentally hit the blade with his elbow and it snapped off at the handle.

    Ceramic Knife

My wife loves the knife. It is easy to clean and is extremely sharp. Great for slicing. It is the first knife that we go to for those types of jobs. Being that it is a ceramic knife, caution has to be taken when chopping on hard surfaces. It will either break the blade or put pit marks in it. The blade is reasonably priced. I checked it against already made products and there is about a $40 to $60 savings.

    Great Projects

I have made a complete set of the black blades and two of the white. The black I used birch with an inlaid strip. The white babinga. I kept the plastic sleeve that the blades came in and cut it off up to the handle. Do not throw these in a drawer without protection, you will chip them. Great cutting blades. Fantastic and impressive gifts.

    I plan on getting more

This is a quality blade that is easy to finish with any kind of handle you want. I wish they had larger sizes.
