      DON’T BUY!

Was on the search for a new orbital and decided to buy Norton based off of the salesman’s advice at Woodcrafters. WORST decision I could of made. I went home looked for reviews before using and only found two (both bad) but figured I’d take my chances. They were right! Pads do not stick for longer than 15 seconds after first use. Save your money and buy another brand.

Norton 68287 Item 162959 5" Random Orbital Palm Sander fails

I do not recommend this tool. I have only had it for 5 months and used it lightly (I build small boxes). Recently, while trying to refinish a small desk, the foam velcro pad tore free of the the composite disc driven by the motor and flew across the room. I searched online and could not find one source of replacement parts for Norton sanders. All other brands list this as a consumable item and make the part available. Finally I glued the foam pad back onto the driving disc with polyurethane glue (Gorilla Glue). This held well and I tried to continue the job. Then, while continuing to sand, the pad would slow down and not spin up to speed and power. I was completely unable to use the tool at all. I don't see a warranty listed in the description for this tool so will have to follow up to see what resolution it is. I thought the Norton name (famous in industry for abrasives) would indicate quality. I took a chance as I have never seen Norton hand-held power tools on the market before. I made a big mistake.
