Keep an Organized Shop with the Woodworker’s Shop Journal

If you like lists and structure, you will love the Woodworker’s Shop Journal from Fox Chapel Publishing. This handsome, hot-stamped faux leather-backed book is the perfect place to keep all of your shop notes, designs and so much more.

There are plenty of blank grid-lined pages for sketches and patterns, materials lists and project logs. The 144 heavyweight pages are numbered to allow the user to fill out their own table of contents to easily find their notes.

The book includes tool checklists and a place for serial numbers and purchase dates for larger equipment—this could come in handy if an insurance claim ever arises.

You’ll find quick reference “cheats” for common woodworking calculations, a shrinkage values chart for different wood species, grit comparisons, a grinder wheel identification chart, and a list showing the workability of various woods.

This handy pad also comes with a shop layout checklist, dust collection needs assessment, hardwood lumber grades, power tool wattage ratings, safety tips and other helpful woodworking information.

With plenty of blank pages in this shop pad, the user can easily keep track of a year’s worth of projects. Jot down measurements, materials used, finish selection and any other pertinent notes. You could also list your “someday” projects for inspiration.

It will take awhile to fill up one of these journals, but when you do, get another one—then you can begin an archive of completed shop journals. Organization is your friend. Prioritize it, do it, live it, and your shop will run a lot more smoothly.

There is also a Woodcarver’s Shop Journal available for our carving friends. Shop for this and other Fox Chapel titles from your local Woodcraft store or shop online at woodcraft.com. We are here to help with all of your woodworking needs.

We hope you’ll be inspired!
