Ernie Conover Workshops
Saturday - Monday, January 16-18, 2010
Join us as we welcome Ernie Conover of Conover Workshops in Ohio, noted teacher and author, to your Jacksonville Woodcraft!
Day 1 - Woodworker's Guide to Dovetails. This workshop is based on Ernie's book of the same name. Ernie feels that the debate between hand cut and machine cut dovetails is silly. Some days hand cut is appropriate and others a dovetail jig is just the thing.
Day 2 - Hand Tool Joinery. In this workshop Ernie will help take the mystery out of hand tools. He will cover marking gauges, try and combination squares, bevels, bench planes, hand saws, chisels and mallets. Learn how to select and tune these tools for best performance. He will also cover simple hand tool joints - dovetails and mortise and tenon.
Day 3 - A Woodturning Primer. This primer is for the woodworker who wants to incorporate more turning into their work or for someone who wants to do some bowl turning. He will cover a host of information; from buying the right lathe and equipment, sharpening and choosing the right tool for a given situation. Don't miss this opportunity to improve your turning skills.
