This is one of our more advanced bowl turning classes. We will discuss, in detail, how to harvest your own wood along with best practices in logging, storing and understanding where the bowl and platter blanks are in the log. You will learn advanced tool techniques, how to keep the bark on the blank using CA adhesives, elements of design, form and function and different bowl mounting techniques. You will also learn how to keeping the wings of the bowl the same thickness and how to keep the wings aligned with each other. Each student is responsible for supplying their own eye protection, dust mask, face shield, note book, 1/2in and 3/8in bowl gouge, round scraper, parting tool. Join us in creating a Harry Potter wand. This is a spindle turning class but with a Magical Twist. In this fun class, you will also learn the basics of woodturning, turning a square block into a round spindle, while adding creative coves and beads. You will learn the proper techniques for using basic turning tools, gouges and parting tools. Tools provided by the instructor include a sharp 1/2in spindle gouge and a sharp 3/16in parting tool. You may bring your own if you desire. Each student is responsible for supplying their own safety glasses and hearing protection.

You'll be introduced to different types of epoxies, colored dyes, tints and the various types of powders used to create eye catching effects. Some of the topics covered will be, how to choose the correct type of epoxy and mold preparation that leads to a successful project. Each student is responsible for supplying their own notebook, pencil, filter mask / respirator, gloves and closed toe shoes.
