Caricature Carvers of American (CCA) award winner, Jean McDonald of Liberty Center, OH will be our guest demonstrator. She is well known in the carving circles, having taught at the John C. Campbell Folk School in North Carolina, the 577 Foundation in Perrysburg, OH, and at Woodcraft of Toledo. Jean will be demonstrating the basics of face carving, basic carving tools, and share tips and techniques to detail facial features such that they pop with life and expression.

On completion of this class you will also receive a complimentary book on the Complete Table Saw. Safety glasses, Mask or face covering is required. Class size is limited. Basics Of Pyrography (Woodburning)

This class is designed for the beginning pyrographer (woodburner). You will learn about the different pyrography tools available, where to look for project designs, materials to use for your projects, safety, pattern transfers, pyrography styles and color options, maintenance of your equipment, and will have discussion about finishing your work as part of the introduction to pyrography. A practice board will be used for you to learn about the four primary nibs, how to hold your pens, factors affecting your design, temperature issues, and shading. A small project will also be created during the class. You are encouraged to bring your own woodburning tools to the class. The first two students requesting it may use the two classroom woodburners that are available. You also have the option of purchasing pens or burners prior to the class for a class discount of 10% if you have registered for the class. Safety glasses are required. On completion of this class you will also receive a complimentary Pyrography Workbook. Class size is limited. This class will be cancelled one week in advance if not enough students have signed up.

Introduction To Lathes And Turning

This class is a pre-requisite for all lathe and turning classes. The first half of the class will be an overview and discussion of the types and structure of the lathe equipment, safe use of the equipment, uses of various accessories, tool selection / options, proper care of tools, and types of wood used in turning. This basic education will apply to various types of turning. The second half of the class will be basic hands-on turning techniques. On completion of this class you will also receive a complimentary book on basic wood turning. Safety glasses, Mask or face covering is required. Class size is limited. This class will be cancelled one week in advance if not enough students have signed up.
