Scroll Saw Intarsia with Adam Panto
Saturday, August 1, 9:30pm - 4pm
Intarsia is a technique where beautiful pictures are created in wood using different species and grain patterns for contrast. The cutting is done on a scroll saw and then each individual piece is shaped and sanded to create depth. In this hands-on class, each student will be creating an intarsia penguin out of maple and walnut.
Prerequisites: Basic Scrollsaw experience or the Scroll Basics Class.

Bandsaw Techniques with Adam Panto
Sunday, August 2, 9:30am - 4pm
The band saw can be one of the most useful tools in your shop. In this hands-on class, students will learn to set up and align a band saw, bandsaw safety, proper cutting techniques, and what blades to use for specific cuts. He will also cover specific techniques like curve cutting, double-cutting, bevel cutting, resawing, and more. Students will leave the class with a greater appreciation for this versatile tool and the confidence to use it. And each student will cut a bandsaw box to take home!
Tools Required: Safety Glasses, Dust mask or Respirator, Notebook & Pencil
Turn a European Style Pen with Mike Murphy
Thursday, August 13, 6pm - 8:30pm
If you have been turning slim line pens and want to expand your turning skills then this is the class for you. Mike will take you through the steps to make a beautiful European style pen. He has the helpful hints and tips to help you create a fine writing instrument.
Tools Required: Spindle gouge and a Parting Tool
Face Carving with Jim Hanson
Sunday, August 16, 9:30am - 3:30pm
Develop a face stick that you can use as a reference for future carvings. Jim will show you how to carve basic features and details such as the eyes, nose, mouth and ears. Samples are on display at the store.
