Woodturning: Bowl And Mallet

In this hands-on class, you will learn both of the main skills in woodturning; face plate turning and how to create all of the basic spindle shapes and cuts. Students will turn a small bowl and a wooden mallet. This is the perfect class for the beginning turner, or a great way to hone your turning skills. Each student is responsible for supplying their own roughing gouge, bowl gouge, spindle gouge, skew, parting tool, face shield and dust mask. Wood Finishing: An Introduction

In this demonstration class, the instructor will cover sealers, stains, dyes, and hand applied finishes. They will focus on various types of topcoats both water borne and solvent based, as well as some spray finishes. Proper sanding techniques will also be addressed. Each student is responsible for supplying their own safety glasses, hearing protection, notebook, and pencil.

Would you like to learn how to use a woodburning pen and the basics of pyrography? This class will walk you through the basics such as; types of tools, transferring an image to your project piece, basic art techniques, adding color, and how to finish. Each student is responsible for supplying their own woodburning pen with tip, face mask, pen, paper, image of something you want to burn (optional, no larger than 4.5"x4.5"), leather gloves (optional).
