In this class you will learn how to cut the dovetail joint by hand using only a handsaw and a chisel. OK, a saw, chisel, and a marking gauge. Alright, saw, chisel, marking gauge, and a pencil, but that's it. OK, OK, yes, there may be a small thing to mark an angle - and some tape. No power tools though, honest. Chip Cable will walk students through a carving project from start to finish. Power tools are a fun way to carve and allows you to see the results of your work faster than you would with hand tools. This class's project will be a Teddy Bear. Students will start with a roughly shaped blank of tupelo wood and will end with a painted figurine. The first session will focus on carving.
