with Jeff Wyatt
Part 1: Friday, June 28, 9 AM - 5 PM
Part 2: Saturday, June 29, 9 AM - 5 PM
Part 3: Sunday, June 30, 9 AM - 5 PM
The Windsor stool originated in England in the early 18th century. It is characterized by its turned legs, spindles, and seat. Windsor stools were originally made from local hardwoods, such as ash, maple, and oak. Often used as work stools, they are stylish, comfortable and durable. In this class, you will learn the fundamentals of Windsor style furniture making through its simplest form, the Windsor stool. Discussion topics will include splitting, handling, and storing green wood along with drying techniques and technologies. The hands-on portion will focus on stool design, shaving and shaping parts, joinery, assembly and finishing. By the end of the 3rd day, you will have your own handmade stool to take home, as well as the knowledge and skills to continue exploring Windsor furniture building in your own shop or makerspace. Building a Windsor stool is a great way to learn about traditional woodworking techniques. It is also a satisfying project that will give you a sense of accomplishment. If you are interested in learning how to build furniture, a Windsor stool is a great place to start!

River Style Lazy Susan
with Jess Crow
Wednesday, October 9, 5 PM - 9 PM
Join Jess Crow, one of the nation's leading epoxy artistic woodworking innovators, for this brand new class where you will learn how to create a river style round. This round can be used as a clock, serving tray, lazy susan or more. Once you have the concept down you will be able to take this technique and turn it into a table of any size or shape. Jess will guide students through the river style process, including how you prepare a live edge slab*, how to save not only wood, but epoxy, creating a River Style project using Jess's "more is less" method, adding custom colors and designs, selecting and pouring the proper resin, and more! Students will have the option to add the lazy susan hardware when they come back to pick up their projects.
*Note about this class. We will not be using a live edge slab, rather Jess's signature technique to conserve epoxy while having the look of a live river. During class there will be a complete walkthrough on how to build a live edge river table and a syllabus will be made available covering both techniques.
