Work Sharp Sharpener Ken Onion Edition

If you have electricity this is the tool that saves you time and literally puts a Samurai sword edge to steel fairly fast. Read the instructions and its pretty much goof-proof. For most of my life I've used sharp tools having learned how to sharpen straight razors from my Grandfather who had a barbershop. I'm still dedicated to both Japanese and Arkansas stones using water, then after joining the Navy I discovered the Lansky sharpening system which uses oil. I've sharpened thousands of blades using these methods, including some Japanese swords, so I feel qualified to comment. Both the Work Sharp and Lansky can wear fast when grinding down an edge on hard steels like those found on military bayonets, survival and combat knives so buy at least an extra box of belts. After the geometry is set the belts do hang in there. I've been using it on garden tools from several types of mower blades to hoes and shovels to bush wackers, Kukuris, machetes, hatchets and axes to pocket and sheath knives. EVERYTHING GETS WICKED SHARP FAST AND EASY! Do check out the Work Sharp website for the two (2) optional accessories, since my local Woodcraft store didn't carry them. I'm hoping they complement the base tool and make my chores go by faster. Don't forget to buy at least another box of belts in case you accidentally cut one the first time you use the tool.

      makes em sharp

sed to use a steel or a wet stone but since getting this tool I can make my knives scary sharp in a lot less time than it used to take. I would have given this item five stars but I will say that after sharpening about 15 different items the belts started looking like they would need to be replaced. I think that they should have included an extra set of belts. I would have given this item five stars if they would have included them
