    Not terribly flat

    I picked up a second blade to go with my WR low-angle block, I put a 35 degree bevel on it to have a high-angle option. The blade that came with the plane had a decent "cup" to it as did this one. I'd definitely recommend David Charlesworth's "ruler trick" for treating the back of the iron; don't waste your time flattening a whole 1", just do a few mm. Once sharpened up the blade cut just fine as expected.
