Handy and well built
Used in combination with the universal router base. This made straightening edges very easy.

Great tool for many uses.
This tool will be used for a variety of tasks by my staff. It will lead to better end results for their tasks.

Very Satisfied
It works very well. I also bought the guide for my router. It makes the cuts very fast and accurate. I am very pleased with it.

Never knew what I was missing!
Over the weekend I started building some simple utility room cabinets. I tried unsuccessfully to break down some sheets of ply with my cirular saw and a long straightedge. After lost battle I decided to buy this guide the next day. Let me tell you what the guide and plate that your saw or router mounts to are amazing. I didn't notice any deflection at all and the piece of mind in knowing that where you clamp the guide is how straight your cut will be is priceless.

Straight edge clamp
Bought the product since I own the Circular saw/ Router plate that rides on the guide. Great for accurate cutting of wide material.

Not great...
The ruler tape falls out if you don't glue it in place. The optional carriage bracket for the saw or router bogs down, and wanders around, so accuracy is a real problem. There is no way to put two 50" guides together in order to cut a sheet lengthwise. Packaged poorly for shipment by Woodcraft, with no padding on the ends to cushion the shock.

Not bad, but could be better...
The clamp itself is not bad, although the measuring scale simply falls out the end, so I had to put rubber cement on it. It is disappointing to me, however that you cannot rig two of these together to make one long enough to do full sheets lengthwise (like you can with only the guide rails), and there is not a 100" model available, either. The unit comes with no instructions whatsoever. Also, the guide plate assembly that you mount your tools on is very iffy (see my review for it on that listing). [...]

nice and solid
This works! After having read about others deflecting sideways which make them worthless, I picked this one up. Clamped on a 48" table top, I measured a 1/32" deflection but it took 10 pounds of sideways pressure to get it there. I can't think of a situation when I'll put that much sideways force on this clamp. The width of the clamp is 2-1/8". Reviews of other bar clamps indicate that the flex in theirs comes from a narrower width. There is a little bit of sideways jiggle on the end opposite the handle but it's less than 1/64" I'm happy with this as it clamps solidly. It does leave some marks on the solid rod underneath that the pads clamp to but it doesn't gouge it out and chew it up that could lead to problems in the future.

50 Inch Clamp Guide
This is an easy to use accurate tool which works much better and efficent than the old clamp method. One concern is the long term durability of the plastic clamping mechanism. I would pay more for a more durable metal clamp or replacement parts sold with the tool.

Worth the money
I bought this clamp guide to help in building some radiator boxes out of 3/4" MDF. All of my straight cuts are being made with a circular saw and until purchasing this guide I was using a long cut off piece of the MDF with a straight edge as a guide. It was fairly accurate but clumsy and a pain in the [*] to clamp into position. Since buying the clamp guide this task has gotten much easier. My only wish is that they sold them in lengths long enough to cut sheet goods lengthwise...96" or so. It's an extremely valuable tool for those of us that are just starting out and don't have a large workshop with a table saw.
