The Hurdy-Gurdy is another creative piece in the UGears line. This magnificently designed model is a full-fledged musical instrument that resembles its Medieval cousin and showcases the mechanical power and grace of engineering in 16th century France, where the Hurdy-Gurdy was a king’s delight. This intricately detailed mechanical model is an all-in-one product – an easy to play musical instrument, an elegant display of excellent craftsmanship, a brain teaser toy, a puzzle and more. Playing the Hurdy-Gurdy recalls a bygone era, but you can play a wide range of music, from folk tunes to modern pieces. UGears has designed this model with great care and perfection. Made of attractive, high quality wooden material, all the pieces are precut into plywood boards and are easily removed for assembly. Detailed instructions are included.

Very fun kit, but don't think it's a high fidelity instrument.
This was a lot of fun to put together. UGears designed it very well, even including spares for easily broken parts. Expect to take several days to put everything together, working a few hours at a time. If you want to color the pieces (I did that with wood stain and colored sharpies), do it before assembling the kit, and even before taking the plywood parts out of the sheets - it will be MUCH easier. This is a working model, not a great sounding instrument. You CAN play tunes, but this has neither the range nor the acoustics to sound great. The only reason I gave this 4 stars instead of 5 is that. If you only expect to get a model to see how a hurdy-gurdy works, then this is 5 stars. Follow the directions carefully, and you'll have a great time, and you'll have a nice model to show off. I'll make more UGears models in the future.
