Excellent gun finish
I've been using tru oil for many years and have had great success with it. If you thin it slightly with some naptha or mineral spirits, and you thoroughly rub it into a gunstock making sure you create friction heat, you can achieve the look of a hand rubbed boiled linseed oil finish in a few days as opposed to a few months. One little trick to accelerate the drying process which will allow a coat every hour instead of maybe two per day is lightly buff the stock with a gray scotch brite pad before each coat, put on nitrile gloves, and spray a small amount of Armor-all (yes. The stuff I'd never put in my car ) in your hands so they're only slightly coated, and wipe the wood down with it. Then put some tru oil in your hands and rub it in. The armor all works like a a catalyst and sets off the oil.

Love it, love it; love it!
Just a few tips: Poke a very small hole in the foil when opened After using, close with cap and store upside down Use a very small amount Lightly smooth (sand is too strong a word) in between coats with 0000 steel wool or micro-mesh cloth. I love this stuff!

Great Merchant - Great Product
I was originally introduced to Tru-Oil as a gunstock finish. While using it in this fashion I also branched out to using it on wood products which need a tough, high gloss finish that protects the wood from minor dings and dents. Woodcraft is one of the few stores that still sells it in my State and their service, price, packaging, and delivery speed was exceptional.

Best finish without a spray booth
This is a terrific product. It works well for both glossy and satin finishing. I URGE people interested in this product to use Birchwood Casey sealer/filler before applying tru oil. ESPECIALLY on pourus wood. Done right this product gives a glass like finish. It is far and away my favorite finish product. Re, storage.. This product is only sold in smallish bottles. There is a reason for that. Tru Oil thickens in the bottle after being opened. It will only last for about 1 week (after being unsealed) before it begins clumping. So it makes sense to use the smallest bottle possible for the job because the rest will go to waste.

Great Stuff
I found that if I sanded with extremely fine sandpaper after using Tru Oil it produced an A+++ rating. Bob Blackman

Love this stuff
Dad used it years ago to finish a cherry spinning wheel which has a lot of turnings and small pieces - looked great. After many years, I cleaned the surface and redid the wheel and I marvel at the beauty of it. The rich red of the cherry (no stain) was heightened. I use it on all wood (non eating surface) now. Love this stuff.

Good product
The product works well for small wood projects. I like it better than tung oil. It dries fast and leaves a good finish. It's easy to work with. The only negative is the odor is not pleasant, but it goes away when it dries.

A fantastic product for wood trim and..
15 yrs ago did my new home trim and doors in Tru Oil, even on bathroom door still looks great. 2 coats needed for gloss. Doing 386 boards now for the ceiling, makes the wood come alive with contrast and the natural color, has no pigment to muddy the beauty.
