Part of the Nova Modular Tool Rest System, the s-curve bowl rest is a perfect fit for almost any size of lathe. This rest combines both the large and small bowl rests into one. The solid steel large bowl rest is constructed from 1-1/8"-wide x 5/16"-thick steel while the small bowl rest is constructed from 1-1/8"-wide x 3/16"-thick steel and features a tough enamel painted surface, radius work surface that allows the tool to glide smoothly over the rest all while providing better control. Rest provide both 8-1/2" (218mm) diameter curvature as well as a 5-3/16" (132mm) diameter curvature that allows it to be used in either orientation to provide left or right positioning. When more precise tool control for smaller work is needed on larger lathes, this will more than fill the bill. Tool rest bar requires one of the Nova Tool Rest Posts (sold separately).

    Needs some quality control

I purchase this tool rest and the matching tool post. When I tried to assemble the two together, the post would not screw into the tool rest. Not wanting to force it and to avoid going all the way back to Woodcraft, I determined that the problem was with the tool rest threads. I own a metric tap and die set and ran the appropriate tap through the existing thread. A fair amount of debris came out (looked like paint and metal shavings). The parts easily went together after that. Other than that the tool rest works fine.
