Pleasantly surprised
I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of these latches - especially for the price. I used these on two little boxes I made for my daughters and would use them again. I’ve have already ordered more to have on hand for my next project.

You are stuck with the brushed look
Don't try to sand and polish the piece to remove the brushed look, the brass finish was barely electroplated and is very thin. I tried to remove the brushed look to have a more satin appearance. The brass is probably applied after the brushed texture, so it is impossible to remove it. Oh well, let my mistake save you.

Nice latch that adds some elegance
I have installed many of these latches on my cases and boxes. They add a touch of elegance to the case or box. Unlike the other reviewer, I nor any of my customers have had any issues with opening the latch..... I also use the same but smaller latch for my small boxes....

Difficult to open
Finger bevel at bottom of latch too small to get a grip on. Almost pulled screws out trying to unlatch. I filled a more pronounced bevel on the back side and now can grasp. But brass finish gone although not seen when closed.
