Ambrosia maple is technically not a specific species of maple, but rather a general description of any type of maple that has been infested by ambrosia beetles. The beetles bore into the tree, and...

Due to the nature of wood movement, shrinkage and expansion are possible. Please measure each piece carefully before starting any project.
Wood is a product of nature, and as such, no two pieces are alike to start with, while the same wood growing in different locales can vary greatly even though it is the exact same species.

The American Woodshop with Scott Phillips begins it’s 18th season on PBS starting on Monday, August 29th, 2011. This year’s 13 episodes entitled “Weekenders,” focus on woodworking projects to augment the home. While discovering and using new tools to become a more proficient woodworker, you should be able to finish each of these projects in one weekend.
During last year’s WoodExpo 2011 at the New England Home Show, we featured a blog on Kevin Mack Fine Furniture. Kevin is located in Malden, Massachusetts and can also be found online at
www.kevinmackfinefurniture.net. The Mack attack is back at the 2012 show with 5 new fantastic entries showing off his creativity and woodworking expertise. The main goal for all 5 pieces was to create 3 color tones in each piece.
I recently purchased, among other woods, a stick of your Ambrosia Maple. While I fully realize that wood is a natural product with varying characteristics, this product is basically clear maple with hardly no color variations as shown on the product description. Additionally, the 3/4 x 4 x 48 board had a 1/4" open knot on its midline. This product is way overpriced for what is essentially a piece of common maple
A bit disapointed
This will be milled and made into boxes for pistol display
I would definitely recommend this wood
I made pen blanks for various pen styles and the remaining wood , will use for jewlry boxes.
Just what I was looking for
I had obtained some beautiful partially quilted maple for a mandolin back and sides and wanted some maple to contrast in the neck. I went to my local Woodcraft and found this wood. It has nice long gray and brown streaks and about a dozen beatle holes and a couple of tunnels. this should work out nice since the woods have a close match in overall color.
1 of 2 boards incorrect; Wormy Maple
The correct board was very good looking, however, I already have a large supply of the incorrect board - "Wormy Maple". It wasn't worth my time, money, and effort to send back the incorrect item. I was dissapointed but maybe next time you'll get it right.
just this one order
I am not sure this is the format to use to send this message, but it was right in front of me, so I took this route. I have been ordering from you for a long time, and shopping in the store, when I could. This is the first wood I have been disappointed in. I have gotten gorgeous ambrosia maple in the past, but this time I got maple--but very little ambrosia. This is extremely bland wood! The "bottom line", where I answered "No, I would not recommend" is based strictly on this order. I have received very good wood in the past.
