    Splinters?

    I like these mixed wood blanks if the glue holds all the bits together. Just be careful! No high speeds and gentle use of primary gouge. Danger's not passed when you've achieved round, from square. I use a flat chisel, very sharp & up-side-down to shave off small amounts gently, Patience is rewarded with a multitextured/colored product. Don't go thin! Splinter explosions happen, but not so often when used to this blank.
