For me, this thing is great!
First off, I am not a professional woodworker, I'm a hobbyist. I build furniture, and turn bowls for personal use or gifts. For years I've been applying finish to my furniture and turnings by hand, either wiping or brushing, and I've never been totally happy with the results. No matter how much I feather, there are always brush marks in the dried finish. I've always wanted an HVLP, but don't have the room or use for a compressor and sprayer system. So, this portable sprayer was just what I needed. I have used it for some furniture, and a few turnings, and I couldn't be happier with the results. When used per the instructions, the finish I have gotten using General Finishes Hi Performance poly have been excellent; smooth, no streaks or brush marks. And, it's simple to use! I didn't have to thin the Hi Perf at all, it sprayed it smooth and even. It seems to handle thicker viscosity finishes like Hi Perf with no issues (in fact the literature even says it works best with these types of finishes). I'm looking forward to running some GF milk paint through it soon, but all in all I am really pleased with this unit.
