Replace worn blades or just improve your #5.5 Stanley/Record plane with this Hock Blade & Breaker Set.
At 3/32" thick, these blades offer a substantial improvement over the standard blades. O1 high carbon steel blades can be honed easier and sharper. Blade should fit your #5.5 Stanley and Record style planes with no modifications other than a simple frog adjustment.
The blade is paired with a Hock Chip Breaker (also known as a Cap Iron, Back Iron, etc.) to maximize your plane's performance. A thicker chip breaker can stabilize the blade's cutting edge reducing vibration and chatter. Hock Chip Breakers are 3mm thick (0.118"), almost twice as thick as a stock chip breaker. A knurled cap screw is included.
