Clear Satin Topcoat Gel Quart
These oil-based Gel Topcoats and Stains are quite possibly the easiest of all finishes to use and achieve a "hand-rubbed" look without all the work. Application is easy with a foam brush or lint...
• This is the stain that has the most "finishing feel" of all General Finishes' products
• Woodworkers love the lustrous finish that shows up
• Heavy-bodied, and so does not penetrate as deeply into the wood as liquid oil-base stains do
• Can help you get a more even appearance on difficult woods such as aspen or pine
• Easy-to-use stains simply wipe on with a cloth or applied with a foam brush (no spills or splashes)

If the SS Nieuw Amsterdam teak chairs could talk, they would tell you quite a Veteran story. This narration is told to us by Steve Taylor, son of First Army Lieutenant Phillip K. Taylor who served in the 5th Army Air Corps, Pacific theater. Born in 1916, Phillip was a native of Macy, (North Central) Indiana. Phillip was a man that believed in working with his hands and passed that work ethic onto his son, Steve. Those moral principles paid off in the service for Phillip.
Not a satin finish
Goes on evenly and easy to apply but finish is between a semi gloss and a gloss, not at all satin. Very thin build as well.
Way Too Glossy
I love the gel stain but the topcoat was a HUGE disappointment. I mixed it before every application but my cabinets turned out shiny, nothing like a satin finish. I will be purchasing another brand of oil based topcoat in an attempt to tone down the glaring shine.
great product will order more
the best thing is the way it is applied very easy works great leaves a nice finish
Great Top Coat
I just built a vanity and mirror for our renovated master bath aand installed a solid 6 panel door with new casing. I used this on it all and am very pleased. Ships quick, does a great job, easy to use and clean up a sinch
Great easy to use finish
gel top coat
I LOVE TEH LOOK, ADN FEELING AFTER IS APPLIED
Easy to use.
Went well with the stain. It did what it said it would.
Doesn't bubble up between coats like the competition. Almost no sanding.
Great finish! Gives it a finished shine without being over the top shiny. I used over 3 coats of the java gel stain, used 2 top coats.
Product was extremely easy to use.
Great top coat, shiny
This is my first time staining a cabinet and I was following a tutorial from Pinterest. This product is so easy to use. And my bath cabineta look amazing!!!
Excellent Gel Varnish
I used the clear satin topcoat on woods that do not absorb evenly and it worked very well.
Best I've used to date
I have built over 300 bandsaw boxes and am now using this finish. It works wonderfully.
Nice product, easy to use.
If you liked Bartley's finish, you will enjoy using this one. 3 coats leave a finish with a slight sheen, between satin and semi-gloss. Quick easy to use and low odor. Highly recommend.
would buy again
great product looks hand rubbed
Very easy to use and dried to a very nice but more than what I would consider a Satin finish. I will use it as my primary finish.
Very nice finish
Application was a breeze with a small pad of recyled T-shirt rags. Applied 3 thin coats that dried quickly to a smooth, professional-looking finish. I probably would not have used it as the final step refinishing my kitchen cabinets if I'd known how shiny it would be. I'd call it a semi-gloss or glossy semi-gloss. I'll try wet sanding to get rid of some shine and if that doesn't work re-coat with another product.
Foolproof way to a professional finish
A great and foolproof way to a professional finish. Light "straw" color, similar to solvent lacquers.Apply thin coats with a cloth pad on properly prepped wood, and you won't need to sand between coats or after the final coat. levels out and dries evenly, a fantastic product. A little glossier than the typical "satin" after 3 or more coats. A "must have" in anyone's finish cabinet.
I'd die for a semi-gloss
I'm using this for a table-top finish on cherry plywood behind an oil/varnish first coat to bring out the grain. The combination of finishes on cherry is truly beautiful. They advertise this finish as a matte and it is definitely a matte so I can't complain. But a semi-gloss option would be perfection.
