I have had this sander and used it to death for 1 year now and its as strong as ever with no mechanical problems.I rate this sander as only a fair random orbit sander but in the rotex mode it smothly and cleanly removes material so much faster than any of my other machines.Good pads and dust free. It's a two hander for sure but you'll get used to it fast.
My favorite Festool
I have owned this sander for over three years. I decided to review the product because I was shocked that there were no previous reviews. This is an awesome tool. Not only is it a powerful sander, but I use it in the garage as a wax applicator and buffer. Yes, it is expensive, but I replaced a belt sander, orbital sander, a buffer and a random orbital buffer with one tool! My first use was removing dried glue after removing laminate from a 4'x 8' table top. It cut through the glue and left an even surface. With the vacuum attachment, dust was minimal. Total time to completely sand this big surface was 30 minutes! Try doing that with a belt sander! I purchased the new jetstream pad (now standard) and improved the already great dust collection. This tool is well worth the price! I have decided today to purchase the Rotex RO90 for smaller detail work. (no, I was not compensated for writing this review).
