These stop collars feature the "split-ring" design which positively locks anywhere along the bit diameter. They work on both standard and brad-point bits. Unlike setscrew type collars that may skew or damage the bit, these units will not move after tightening. The set includes a hex key...

Poor Quality - Save Your Money
I attempted to use the 2 smallest collars and they will not stay in place. I suppose they might if I really tightened the set screw, but that would damage the drill bit. Save your money and either purchase a better quality product or use masking tape!

Not as advertised
The two smallest collars are conventional set screw style collars rather than split rings. As others have said, I had trouble with them slipping. To combat the slipping, I snugged the set screw on the 1/8" collar a little tighter which helped for the moment. The next morning I saw part of a drill bit on the floor of the shop. The remainder was on the bench where I had been working the prior evening. The pressure of the set screw broke the bit overnight. The manufacturing oil was easily removed with mineral spirits. I would rather them be oily than rusty.

I would buy this product again.
I can't get to hold on the countersink bits I bought(too thick)

They Don't Work! Covered in Oil.
Tried using the 1/4" on a 1/4" brad point. No matter how tight I tightened the screw, it still slipped. At one point I thought I had it tight enough but it immediately slipped when I tried drilling the hole. They are also soaked in some kind of oil, which is not good for woodworking. I am disappointed that Woodcraft would sell something that works as poorly as this. They are DEFINITELY going back!!

Poor Quality but great idea
I used one of the drill bits. The screw broke the second time I secured it on the bit. It was so very difficult to tighten it the fist time I used it. It is a great idea but these do not work well. I can not recommend these drill bit stops to anyone!

very good fit
Fits my Craftsman band saw perfect. My bandsaw is 21 years old.And Woodcraft was the only company that had one te fit. Thank you

Too stiff? Didn't fit?
A lot of reviews complain about these being too stiff to use. Has anybody who had trouble getting one of these to clamp tightly tried grinding some material off the hinge side of the ring? With enough material removed, even the flimsiest set screw should clamp it tight.

Great product for a common problem
lot better for stopping drills at right length than a piece of tape wrapped around the drill bit.

disappointed
Five of the pack of seven worked as designed. Two did not. Unfortunately those 2, 5/16 and 3/8 are the two I need most. No matter how hard I turn the set screw with the allen wrench they do not tighten. All I ended up with is a rounded off allen wrench.

They work
Previously used blue tape for setting my bit depth but had lots of dowel holes to drill at exact depths. These stop collars fit and worked fine.
-
Not machined accurately and no give!
Unfortunately, the one collar that I really needed does not quite fit the bit (it's slightly too large for the bit, even though it's -supposed- to fit) and there's not enough give for it to work, so this set turned out to be a waste for me.
-
Good idea
Most everyone has had good luck with these, but only some of the collars in the pack worked for me. I made sure I was using the correct collar for the 1/4" bit when I looked these over and found it wouldn't clamp on the bit no matter how hard I cranked the allen wrench. I even second guessed myself when it wouldn't clamp and checked again. I wanted these to replace the set screw type I've had for years but sent them back and asked for a return in the way of Gift Card.[...] Sometimes things just don't pan out like you'd want; I'm still using my old set.

drill bit collars 7 piece
I make game boards and need to drill the holes just at the right depth. This product is great for that and the ring never sliped up or down once

Very Handy
Very nice solution to drilling several holes to a certain depth....... Wish they came in a case...

The Best Stop Collars
We've all used stop collars that have a set screw which screws into the drill bit. These have a tendancy to slip and will certainly tear up the drill bit. This new design effectively clamps the drill bit and will not marr the bit. What a great product!
-
Works with all of my smaller bits.
Necessary when using the Blum T65.1 drilling guide.

Imported - Made in China
Disappointed! Nice concept, but I tried two of the collars. The second one that I tried, the fastener was stripped and would not tighten down on the drill bit. I know others were happy with the product, maybe I just got a bad set - Returned!

These collars are reliable, easy to set
I build muzzleloading rifles, reproductions of rifles from the Revolutionary War through the 1840's. When tuning and customizing locks and triggers, and fitting pin and wedge lugs to barrels there is a need to drill holes of precise depth. These stops are far superior to those that use a set screw that bears against the shaft of the drill bit. The circumferential clamping action is easier to set, and does not slip.
-
Does exactly what it's supposed to do.
Great when drilling for dowel pins to a fixed depth
-
very handy
Can't beat the price

Throw out those set screw collars!
These work the way you want them to! No slipping, no damaged bits, very easy to set precise depth. Rather than fiddle around setting the depth stop on my drill press (a process that has to be repeated every time I make the slightest adjustment to the table height) I just slap on one of these. But I didn't really toss out my set screw types - they make great sinkers!

Excellent Stop
Excellent Stop This stop will not harm the bit or slip from position because of it's split design, best bit stop I ever used,A case would be nice.
