Water resistant "seal" with a wood feel.
I have been fighting to get a good smooth finish that does not subtract form the feel of the wood. after settling with a tung oil finish I was having to work to get them to take a shine of any kind. using this system I have been able to buff 20 boxes in an hour of time and have them come out not only smoother then I can do by hand but much more reflective of a finish. all while keeping the wood feel finish.

Great tool, but some limitations
I bought my Beall system about a year ago and use it regularly with excellent results. My only slightly negative comment is that you HAVE to use the bowl buffs in conjunction with it to finish the inside of most bowls. A design recommendation I would suggest is that the mandrel that the buffing pads are mounted on be made longer so you have more room between them to get inside of larger (over 6 - 7"diameter) bowls. Overall, I like the tool quite a bit and would buy it again and recommend it to others.

Fantastic product
If you're contemplating buying this system just do it...you won't be disappointed. I just used it for the first time. It couldn't be any easier, and the results were beautiful. I sanded my project to 400 grit then buffed the bare wood following the instructions and wow, what a finish! I'd be curious to try it next time with an oil finish before buffing as suggested in their directions. I also bought the 3" bowl buffs to go with the system and they worked perfectly as well.

sweet shine, some of the time...
I have used for many years a combination of fine sanding and buffing to achieve a high gloss polish on the bowls I produce. After listening to and watching more than a few videos featuring the Beall system, I become convinced that this would improve and speed my finishing. The buffs are nice, even though they tend to shred constantly in use. Patience is required to achieve that "million dollar shine", just as it would be if I did NOT purchase this system. If you make many natural edge bowls, note that pieces of the buff WILL end up caught in your bark. Overall, if I knew what I know now, I would not purchase this system. Since I have this system in my shop, however, I will use it every time I am able. This is an adequate tool for my toolbox. The next field I am asked to enter is the "bottom line", or, would I recommend this to a friend, and that would depend on the projects my friend were undertaking in general. There will be times I would recommend this, there will be times I will suggest a different procedure...

Excellent product
As a wood turner I've been using a triple buffing system mounted on my lathe for some time (I don't have space for a separate buffing machine). I bought a knock-off of the triple Beale mount. After watching the use of the individual Beale buffers at a demo at my woodturning club I decided to get the real Beale - but didn't buy the triple lathe system. I happen to have a 1 x 8 spindle mount designed for the Beale screw on wheels (I'd been using it with the "ball buffs"). It is not sold by Beale, and I've only seen it at Craft Supplies (Woodcraft, take note). It allows me to use my lathe as my buffer, and with the quick change the Beale screw mounting allows is more convenient than either the Beale or the PSI knockoff triple mount system (which requires the tail stock). But the key to my pleasure with these wheels is the quality of the buffing. The unstitched wheels of differing materials are more effective, at least to my taste. I left off a star only because of the lack of a simple quick change mount for the lathe. Using the lathe for buffing has the added advantage of variable speed over a wide range (I buff at about 1800 with an 8" wheel, and at about 2800 with a 4" wheel, and vary that further for the "bowl buffs". That mount is available (as noted above). I recommend the Beale wheels, but with the caveat that I find them best used on the VS lathe with a spindle mount that screws to the head stock. At first I wanted to get a dedicated motor to mount the included attachment jig, then when I realized how easy it was to use my lathe with the mount I had, and the advantage of the variable speed, I retired the attachment jig. Oh My Gosh - My Newest Favorite Tool
I read about the Beall Woodbuff System in a magazine, then watched the video online, and thought "It can't be that easy and that effective." I was wrong. This is a fantastic tool. I am using it on turned projects and sculpted bandsaw boxes. I went to a local industrial surplus outlet and picked up a used 3/4 HP 1725 RPM motor with a long shaft really cheap. Then I called my local Woodcraft Store in Grand Rapids, Michigan, where Gary said they had one Beall Woodbuff System left in stock, so he brought it up to the counter to save it for me. Back home, I wired a plug-in cord with a foot pedal to the used motor in about 15 minutes (had to reverse the black and red wires to make it run counterclockwise) then slipped the adapter onto the shaft, mounted the arbor, mounted the cloth buff, applied the Tripoli bar that came with the system, and I was buffing in about 20 minutes. Wow - I could not have imagined the fantastic hard shine the Beall Woodbuff System puts on my projects. I don't often get this enthusiastic, but I just love this tool. Note: A cloud of cloth lint comes off the buffing wheels the first time, especially the White Diamond and Wax wheels, so it would be a good idea to rub a hardwood stick on the wheels and get someone to hold a shop vac up to the wheels the first time you turn on the motor. The instructions say that, but I ignored that part, and I had a lot of sweeping to do...

Good quality
I bought the MT#2 with the shaft extension even though some had commented on the run out. I added the #20 threaded rod through the lathe with a self turned bushing and nut. I have had no problems with run out.

Beall Wood Buff System
I do a considerable amount of lathe work in my shop, anything from minitures up to large projects. This particular system works as advertised on all projects ( the only exceptions would be the inside of bowls) and it delivers an outstanding finish. It's easy to use, just follow the directions. Make sure in the beginning when you are stripping the pads and getting ready for your fisrt use that you have a shop vac or a dust colecter hooked up you will need it.

Awesome!
I was a little dismayed when I first started using the Beall Buffing System. I was not getting the results I had hoped, but it turns out that I was applying way to much pressure. Re-watching the Beall woodcraft video really helped me to get the process down and now It seems to work like magic! Make sure you have a low speed motor, and go easy on the white diamond and the wax.

Good investment that I'll never be sorry
I was about to give up searching for(in my place)a motor with a suitable pulley & proper mandrel in building my own buffing machine. Then I found a complete set ( Beall Wood Buff System) It is a complete set for my case that do not own Lathe or proper Buffing machine. The machine shaft adapter is just nice for me who have an electric motor without the need to spend extra bucks to buy pulley and mandrel and most importantly it is easy to mount to the motor's shaft. Overall - easy to mount easy to use - it's a fun project!

Good, but has shortcomings!
The buffing wheels are good quality, but... The center hole is larger (about 5/8") than the threaded arbor (3/8-12 thread) leading to runout of the buff. You can try for hours and never get them to run true. Seem like a simple fix to me. Also I purchased the adaptor extension and that just compounds the problem! The extension I received had considerable runout itself!

Used to Restore Pen Luster
In attempts to restore luster to pens, I found that the buffs shredded easily and were hard to load with compound.

Great system.
I think all of the other reviews pretty much sum up what this system is capable of and its many uses. I just wanted to add that I have the large model Sand-Flee sander and this system compliments that to a Tee. The motor on the Sand-Flee is a 1725 RPM 1/3 H.P. motor and the shaft at the roller end takes the adapter perfectly. Even though the Beall company recommends a 1/2 H.P. motor I wrote them and they suggested a 1/3 H.P. minimum. I used it today and it worked very well.

A "polished" product
I was amazed at the results. After staining and sealing a jewelry box, I was able to finish the outside of the box to a deep-beautiful sheen in about 10 minutes. Multiple rub coats would have taken me days. Since I already had a motor, the price for the buffing system is great.

It works!
I hooked the system to a 1/3HP(TEFC) motor that I purchased on the internet. The unit is connected to a piece of 2X12 scrap so it is very portable. It fits on my bench or under it for storage. Use a mask, especially when you first start, as the wheels shed a lot of fibers and lint. Small amounts of the compounds and wax are more than sufficient to get good results.

Incredible finish
The process requires you to change the buffing wheels each time you change abbrasive/polish, but the finish is incredible. It does not replace the need to sand to smooth finish and seal prior to buffing. All in all, it is in my opinion, far better than a lacquer and paste wax finish.

Works exactly as described with great instructions.You won't believe the finish. Great buy. If I could change anything it would be to make the shaft extension longer so I could reach into a plate or bowl without hitting the edge on motor. They do sell a product for this purpose but I would rather do it all at once.

Complete buffing solution
Having all the buffing wheels and compound in one complete set is a great way to get started in buff finishes. The quality is nice and the extension to move the buffing wheel further away from the grinder is a nice touch. My only gripe about this system is that it should come with nice color glossy photo examples of what it can do, rather the the minimalistic manual.
