Anigre veneer is used in all aspects of architectural millwork from wall panels to casework and cabinets. Due to the size of the tree, it is perfect for sequencing. Anigre veneer, is typically a blonde, light yellowish-brown to a sometimes pinkish cream wood that ages to a nice golden brown color. Anigre is a hardwood of medium density with a fine to medium texture and tight pores. Anigre wood veneer will accept stains and finishes well but is usually finished with a clear coat that preserves the warmth and beauty of the wood’s natural color. Anigre can be found in West and East Africa, particularly Tanzania. Other common names for Anigrea are Aningeria and Anegre. Wood on Wood or 2-ply veneer is created by permanently bonding two wood veneers together. The face veneer is perpendicular to the backer veneer which provides protection against bubbling that can occur when a veneer is improperly bonded to the substrate. This type of "crossband construction" allows the veneer to bend on moderate curves in the horizontal or vertical direction.
